TAMARA BUBIS
Tamara is an Associate Lawyer at Engel & Associates, with a primary focus on criminal law and correctional law.
Tamara graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2012, earning a Bachelor of Arts (Hons). She then went on to complete her legal studies at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, graduating in 2015. Following her call to the bar in Ontario, Tamara worked for one year at the Immigration and Refugee Tribunal in Toronto and briefly for a boutique criminal defence firm out of Kingston, Ontario.
Tamara works with senior counsel on a wide variety of criminal matters, including sexual assault, fraud, impaired driving, and drug-related offences.
Tamara has particular interest in assisting clients with parole related matters and frequently appears before the Parole Board. In addition, she assists clients who have been found Not Criminally Responsible or unfit before the Ontario Review Board.
Tamara is a member of the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa and the Criminal Lawyers Association of Ontario.

KEVIN WEINSTEIN
Kevin Weinstein is an associate at Engel & Associates practicing criminal and quasi-criminal litigation. He represents clients charged with a wide range of offences throughout Eastern Ontario.
Throughout law school, Kevin focused his studies on criminal law and developed a particular interest in wrongful convictions. Kevin worked in the University of Ottawa’s Conviction Review Project for two years helping people pursue their wrongful conviction claims. He also worked at the Department of Justice in the Criminal Conviction Review Group.
Kevin was born and raised in Montreal. He attended McGill University for his undergraduate studies and later moved to Ottawa to attend law school at the University of Ottawa. Kevin joined Engel & Associates as an articling student in 2016 and remained with the firm as an associate after his call to the Bar of Ontario in 2017.
Kevin is a member of the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa.

JUSTIS DANTO-CLANCY
Justis Danto-Clancy is an associate at Engel & Associates practicing criminal and quasi-criminal litigation. He represents clients charged with criminal, drug, and regulatory offences throughout Ontario.
Justis went to law school in Thunder Bay, at Lakehead University. There, he represented clients on summary criminal matters by volunteering at community legal clinics. In 2020, he won the Sopinka Cup, the national criminal trial advocacy competition. He was elected to be president of the students’ association during law school and, at graduation, was Valedictorian of his class and recipient of a number of prestigious awards.
Justis was called to the bar in 2021. Before joining Engel & Associates in 2024, Justis worked for two years as a sole practitioner criminal trial lawyer in Ottawa. He is a member of the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa.
In his spare time, Justis loves team sports, canoeing, the outdoors, and volunteering. He is a Director of Barristers for a Better Bytown, a charity that focuses on improving the quality of life in Ottawa’s inner-city neighbourhoods, with a particular interest in at-risk youth.
